Asthma in Focus: Degree Level
Module
CATS Points: 30
Academic Level: 6 (Degree)
Notional Study Time: 300 hours
Duration: 6 months
Why is Asthma in Focus
important?
- At any one time roughly
1 in 25 adults over the age
of 16 have asthma
- 1 in 7 children aged
2-15 years of age have
asthma
- Asthma is more common
and more severe in the UK
than in many other parts of
the world
- Approximately 1,500
people die of asthma each
year in the UK. This number
is small compared with heart
disease and cancer but most
asthma deaths are
preventable by better
management.

offer?

experienced nurses
caring for patients with
asthma in practice or in
the community
- This asthma degree

for health professionals
to develop their asthma
