Education for Health’s “Putting Prevention First” workshop will give you the knowledge and skills to deliver comprehensive CVD risk assessment to your patients.

There is a growing recognition of the need to support healthcare practitioners in undertaking CVD risk assessment and effectively managing and supporting high risk individuals.

Following the publication of “Putting Prevention First” (Department of Health, 2008) the current move towards using an evidence based approach to prevent or delay CVD offers an exciting opportunity for healthcare practitioners who are trained and have the knowledge and skills to deliver comprehensive CVD risk assessment to their patients.

This workshop will give you the knowledge and skills to:

  • Use current evidence based guidelines
  • Understand modifiable and non modifiable risk factors
  • Use risk assessment tools in practice to calculate CVD risk
  • Be familiar with the investigations required for measuring CVD risk
  • Use motivational strategies to support behaviour change
  • Understand the organisational structures required for delivery of the Vascular Prevention Programme in practice

This is a one day workshop with informal lectures and interactive
practical sessions delivered by expert practicing clinicians
